About Monkey & Me Cakes

Monkey & Me Sweets was created from a modest hobby of Megan Smith. As her creativity and skill in candy making and cake decorating progressed, her edible pieces of art started to get people’s attention. There seemed to be a need for 3-dimensional cakes and candies in Central PA, so the hobby quickly grew into a full-on business. Monkey & Me Sweets is a small family-owned business made up of the Smith family: Megan, Scott, and Eddie Smith.

Megan

Megan is a graphic artist who absolutely loves quirky crafts and hands-on art projects. Megan attended Pennsylvania College of Art and Design (PCA&D) for Graphic Arts, and has been an artist for Clipper Magazine since 1998. During that time she explored many different hobbies/crafts all relating to art. These projects include, homemade paper, jewelry, interior design, basket making, and scrap booking, just to name a few. Now for the last year she has been making candy and cakes and adding her magic touch to create a unique masterpiece with every confectionary she creates.

Scott

Scott is her loving husband. Scott is an artist who takes fine art more to heart. He prides himself on sculpting and fine painting. Scott attended PCA&D for Graphic Design and then moved on to Millersville University to continue his knowledge in Art Education. Scott has done several freelance pieces over the last few years, and enjoys challenges. Scott began helping Megan with her 3-D edibles in January of this year and has not looked back. Scott enjoys the challenge of taking a fragile medium such as cake and helping Megan turn it into a 3-D form that amazes people’s curiosity as to “How’d they do that?” and “Is that really a cake?” Anything’s possible and the challenge of creating these cakes is very rewarding to both Scott and Megan.

Eddie

Eddie is Megan and Scott’s five-year-old son who has been nicknamed “Monkey” since he could walk. Eddie was asked what we should name our cake business and he suggested Monkey and Mommy, and then, Mommy and Me, and with several suggestions from all three of the Smiths they arrived at Monkey & Me Sweets.
